Do Good People Go To Heaven?
Like someone said...Yes, they certainly would if there were any! According to Bible, to be good enough would mean a person would have to live his entire life perfect, without sin. Do you know any people that meet this standard? People often say, "Well you know, if I do my best, and treat everyone kind, I'll go to Heaven." Others say, "I believe I will go to heaven because I am doing my best." Others have said, " I'm going to heaven because I go to church," and I've heard people say " nobody can know that for sure". How about you?
One day a religious leader in the Bible once asked Jesus Christ: "Master, which is the great commandment in the law?" Jesus said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
Has anyone truly kept this saying? The scriptures remind us, "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no one be justified in his [God's] sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin."
When we compare our lives to God's holy law, all our charitable deeds, all our morality, all our religion, and all sincerity, we fall short of God's eternal righteousness. What it comes down to is..."There is none righteous, no not one". No matter how good you and I think we are, ..."All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." We are not good enough to go to Heaven by our own merits. Salvation that Christ has to offer does not have anything to do with us being good! One undeniable reality that proves we are sinners is that we all are going to die one day. " The wages of sin is death." The final penalty for sin is separation from God forever in the Lake of Fire! Our souls stand in God's eternal balance. We are sinners by birth, and by choice. We are in need of a Savior.
This is why Jesus Christ came to this earth. Jesus stated, "I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." When Christ died on the cross he made a way for all sinners to be forgiven, and to stand before a righteous God. Christ paid the debt of sin through his own blood. "Without the shedding of blood there is no remission." One of the last words Jesus uttered from that cruel cross was..."It is finished." Then he died! God proved his love to fallen humanity. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Every sin that a person could ever commit, was paid in full by Jesus Christ. They laid his body in a tomb, and he arose three days later! Christ had victory over death and the grave!
He took our punishment so that we may live forever in Heaven. The question is...Are you 100% sure you are going to heaven when you die? If you are not, listen to this..."For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast." Salvation is a gift from God. He offers this through his only Son Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me." If any of us were good enough to go Heaven, then Jesus did not have to die. Jesus died because he loves you, and wants you to go to heaven when you die. Someone said, faith is a choice. Will you choose to place your faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal soul? The choice is yours my friend. Do you believe Jesus died for your sins? Will you trust in Him before it's eternally too late? God loves you so much that he proved it to you. The scripture says, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. You can have everlasting life based on believing that Jesus did for you.
Perhaps you are thinking you would like to make this decision. The Bible says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Why not decide right now to place your heart's trust in Christ's death, burial and resurrection? "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart, that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." You can trust in Christ right where you are! Today could be the day of your salvation! Maybe your reading this and you're just not sure what to do. If you would like to be saved, and you are willing to repent of sin, then call upon Jesus today. You can pray something like this...
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know I am sinner and need forgiveness. I believe you died, and shed your precious blood for my sin. I believe you arose from the dead on the 3rd day. Today I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite you to come into my heart and life as my personal Savior. Forgive me of my sin. Help me to live for you. Thank you Lord Jesus for your gift of eternal life.
